Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

The objective of the Ph.D. Program in Finance is to produce Ph.D. graduates who can conduct high quality academic research, publish their research in high quality academic journals, obtain tenure track faculty positions at research universities, are good teachers, and, more generally, are good academics. To accomplish these objectives, the program provides a rigorous and in-depth course of study emphasizing the latest theoretical knowledge, quantitative techniques, research methodology and empirical evidence in the student’s field of specialization.

The program requires a full-time commitment. On average, students complete the program in five years. All requirements for the degree, including the dissertation, must be completed within seven years from the time of entry into the program.
